Somerset family loses pets, home in fire
SAN ANTONIO –
A Somerset family is without a home and their two family pets after fire ripped through their home Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at the 19000 block of Somerset Road after 11 am
Ashley Laurel told KSAT 12 News that she was at work at the time and never imagined that she would find her home up in flames.
We pretty much lost everything, Laurel said. All my baby clothes, all my baby stuff, her first pictures, stuff from the hospital, all the medical stuff from my mom. She has Level 4 cancer. We lost it all.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but Laurels two dogs were, and unfortunately they didnt make it out.
My Old English bulldog, Freckles, and my maltese that I got from my husband for my 1-year anniversary. We lost both of them, Laurel said.
Its very sad, said Ruben Perez, a neighbor. Im just glad nobody was inside and no one was hurt.
Fire Chief Eddie Dugosh of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department said the fire started in one of the bedrooms.
The Bexar County Fire Marshals Office is investigating a cause.
